DR. XINQI DONG – 2018 RWJF AWARD FOR HEALTH EQUITY WINNER

Dr. XinQi Dong is the Director of the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research (IFH) as well as the inaugural Henry Rutgers Distinguished Professor of Population Health Sciences at Rutgers University. Dr. Dong has published extensively on the topics of culture, violence and mental health with more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and is the PI of the PINE study and NIA funded P30 RCMAR center. As a former Beeson scholar, Dr. Dong’s work has been recognized by a number of national and international organizations.

Dr. Dong served as a Senior Advisor for DHHS and was appointed as a member of the Institute of Medicine: Global Violence Prevention Forum. Subsequently, he chaired the workshop on elder abuse prevention and was appointed the Chair of the IOM Forum. Currently, Dr. Dong is a member of National Academy of Medicine’s consensus panel study on caregiving. Dr. Dong was elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation and was a Commissioner for the Commission on Law and Aging of the American Bar Association (ABA).

An immigrant to the United States, Dr. Dong grew up in a rural village near Nanjing, China. He received his BA in biology and economics from the University of Chicago, his MD at Rush University College of Medicine, and his MPH in epidemiology at University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his internal medicine residency and geriatric fellowship at Yale University Medical Center.
