Student & Young Professional Program

Student and Young Professional Program

The Student and Young Professional (SYP) Program supports students and early-career public health professionals by creating opportunities to connect, learn, and grow within our community. Through networking events, skills-based sessions, and mentorship, SYP helps members explore career paths, build professional confidence, and develop leadership through meaningful engagement and service.

Mentorship Program

The SYP Mentorship Program pairs students and young professionals with experienced public health mentors to support career development, goal setting, and professional networking. Mentor and mentee matches are based on shared interests, career goals, and availability. Participants receive a mentorship toolkit with conversation prompts and check-in guidance to help structure meetings and sustain engagement throughout the year.

What participants can expect

  • Mentor mentee matching based on interests and goals
  • Virtual kickoff orientation with goal-setting and communication guidance
  • Networking and professional development events throughout the year
  • Structured check-ins and brief surveys to support quality mentorship experiences
  • End-of-year wrap-up and celebration, plus feedback and testimonials
