  • February 2018: APIC co-sponsored/endorsed new APHA Health Equity Policy Statement – Health Equity: A Cornerstone of Public Health.
  • February 2018: APIC co-sponsored DACA Policy Statement – Protecting the Health of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Immigrants.
  • April 2018: APIC signed on to a letter led by the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum to support the Health Equity and Accountability Act, focused on eliminating health disparities.
  • August 2019: APIC signed on to an APHA letter endorsing the Green New Deal Resolutions, which provide a framework for policy solutions to address climate change and its adverse public health consequences.
  • August 2019: APIC submitted comments on the definition of “health literacy” for Healthy People 2030.

Data Disaggregation

  • May 24, 2018: APIC Webinar and Call to Action: Advocating for AA & NHPI Data Disaggregation. Panelists discussed the landscape around race and ethnicity data disaggregation and recent legislative advocacy efforts in states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, to address AA and NHPI data disaggregation.

Protecting ACA Advocacy​

  • December 2016: APIC Social Media supported Families USA’s: “Week of Action to Protect Our Care” to protect the Affordable Care Act.
  • January 2017: APIC Call to Action for members to submit op-eds to local media to protect the ACA’s Prevention and Public Health Fund.
    • Op-eds submitted in Philadelphia, PA; Anchorage, AK; and Honolulu, HI.
  • June 2017: APIC Action Alert: “Stop Repeal and Replacement of ACA – Save Medicaid” urging members to contact Senators to stop the passage of the American Health Care Act.
  • June 2017: APIC signed on to the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights-led letter to Senators urging them to oppose the American Health Care Act/Better Care Reconciliation Act.
  • June 2017: APIC signed on to Trust for America’s Health-led letter urging Senators to oppose the Better Care Reconciliation Act.

  • September 22, 2017: APIC signed on to the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights-led letter to Senators urging them to oppose the Graham-Cassidy Bill propose to repeal and replace the ACA.
  • August 2019: APIC submitted comments opposing the proposed revisions to Section 1557 of the ACA which would repeal both the nondiscrimination notice requirements and in-language taglines on significant documents from health plans and health care providers informing consumers of their right to receive language assistance.

Immigration Reform Advocacy

  • September 21, 2017: APIC Letter and Action Alert to members regarding the President’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and to urge Congress to pass the DREAM Act of 2017.

  • March 3, 2017: HIV-Related Travel Restrictions: APIC signed onto APHA International Health Section’s letter to UNAISD Executive Director regarding new APHA policy statement, “Opposition to Immigration Policies Requiring HIV Tests as a Condition of Employment for Foreign Nationals,” which was adopted at the Association’s 2016.”
