
Who we are
We are APHA’s official liaison to the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. We are a diverse and inclusive caucus of public health students, professionals and leaders committed to advancing the health of Asian and Pacific Islanders through public health practice, research, education, policy and advocacy, who mentor APIC members for APHA leadership positions.
What do we do
We organize the APIC Scientific Sessions at the APHA Annual Meeting We also sponsor two outstanding networking opportunities: the Student & Young Professionals Breakfast, and the APIC Social where we recognize outstanding peer-review publications on Asians and Pacific Islanders, and an Outstanding Community Organization of the Year. Additionally, we host an APIC website and listserv where you can find the latest job announcements and policy and research developments.
Mission:
To advance the health and health equity of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States, associated jurisdictions and the diaspora, in affiliation with the American Public Health Association.
Goals:
- Be a resource to APHA for persons with an interest in the practice, research, education, policy, and advocacy of diverse Asian and Pacific Islander population health issues.
- Cultivate APIC members to become leaders within the APHA.
- Promote the professional development of APIC members and students through networking, information sharing, and mentoring.
- Be a liaison for individuals and organizations dedicated to serving Asian and Pacific Islander communities to APHA.
- Provide a scientific forum for the analysis, interpretation, recommendations and dissemination of current research and policy that affect Asian and Pacific Islander population health in the United States and associated jurisdictions.
